Being a student mentor is a great privilege and has to be earned. At the Gulf English School we are proud of our mentor scheme. To become a mentor students must demonstrate the highest levels of behavior and effort. Those children with the right qualities are then handpicked by their class teacher to become mentors for a whole term.

Mentors are given goals to reach by the end of a term and they must work together to achieve these targets. In 2013 – 2014 the objectives were: to improve the manners of the student body, to keep the school tidy by dealing with rubbish and finally, to help children to resolve conflict.

The role of Mentor has changed significantly since its inception to a point where there is competition to become one and a sense of excitement. In 2013 – 2014 mentors were asked to attend training programs on weekends and then teach lessons based on their newly acquired skills.
